John Vumback Obituary

John J. Vumback, Jr., 75, beloved husband of Jane J. Vumback passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 16, 2023. Born in Meriden, CT, on September 28, 1949, he was the son of the late John J. Vumback, Sr., and Stella Vumback. He had resided in Meriden most of his life and graduated from Maloney High School. John was employed by SNET and New Britain Transportation. He was a veteran of Vietnam, having served with the U.S. Navy.

John was a member of the Elks & American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman and lifelong fan of the New York Giants and the Yankees. He was a great husband, father, and family man who especially loved watching his grandsons play football and baseball.

Besides his wife Jane, he is survived by his son, Travis Vumback and his wife Connie; his two grandsons, John and Donovan Vumback; his two sisters, Donnalee Bozzuto and Lisa Victor and her husband Dave and his brother Jamey Vumback and his wife Rose. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, John Bozzuto.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, October 19th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. A funeral ceremony will commence at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 20th in State Veteran's Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT.

Hey Skippy, I´m not very good at saying how I feel. I will miss my older cousin. I remember doing the grading of the eggs. I miss catching frogs across the street. Basically I will miss you. Tell Auntie Stella and your dad that I look forward to seeing them soon. I know this was to be to DonnaLee, Lisa and Jamey, but, I miss you all!
