Arthur T. Vumback, 87, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden, CT. Born in Meriden on March 20, 1937, he was the son of the late Arthur Joseph Vumback and Barbara Stanko (Eckstein).
He was a resident of Southington, CT. He graduated from Meriden High School and then took an interest in tool and die making. He completed his apprenticeship at SCA Tool and Manufacturing Company Incorporated in Meriden. He then attended Porter & Chester School of Design in Wallingford where he earned his certificate in tool design. Later, he studied Computer Aided Drafting and Design in Reston, VA, where he lived for many years.
Arthur was employed most of his life as a Designer/Engineer and independently contracted for many companies, especially in the defense industry. He was employed by GE, Martin Marietta, Lockheed Martin, NASA and Xerox, to name a few. He loved these jobs that took him all over the country. He retired and moved to Southington in 2002. He had a great love of family and adored his grandchildren. He loved watching sports, especially football, baseball and golf.
He is survived by his daughters, Marie St. Amand and Cheryl Crowley and her husband, Peter Crowley; his five grandchildren, Danielle St. Amand and Caitlin Riedel, and Ashley, Joseph, and Mitchel Crowley; his sister, Lisa Victor and her husband David and his brother Jamey Vumback and his wife, Rose. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Judith and his brothers, Wayne and Robert.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main Street, Meriden, CT. A service will immediately follow at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be following at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden, CT.
