Joseph Longo Obituary

Joseph Anthony Longo, Jr.
It is with gratitude for his life and sadness in his death, we report the passing of Joseph Anthony Longo, Jr. on June 6, 2025. He was born of parents Catherine (Femia) Longo and Joseph Longo on March 30, 1946, and resided in Meriden until age 25 when he relocated to San Jose, California and later to San Francisco for more than 50 years.
Joe, also known as 'Butch" by family members, graduated from Maloney High School class of 1964. He went on to attend the Pratt Institute and the Cooper Union to pursue an art career. While in New York he worked in design for Charles of the Ritz. He moved to California to become a professional artist. He later worked for Goodwill and The Salvation Army.
He is survived by his twin sister Gail (Longo) Tanguay and her husband Michael and their children Cindy Tanguay and Terry Sharp and her husband Tom, their children Taylor and Ryan; sister Joanne Gaffney and her predeceased husband Dennis Gaffney, nephew Patric Gaffney and his wife Erin and their children Fiona and Aislyn; niece Megan (Gaffney) Ouelette and her husband Scott and their children Jackie, Lilly and Owen; nephew Daniel Gaffney; aunts Deloris (Femia) Schmidt and Josephine (Fuzzolari) Femia. Joe is also survived by his lifelong devoted friend Louis Soto of San Francisco, and many cousins.
We want to thank the health care team at Pacific Heights Transitional Care for their compassionate and loving care for almost five years.
In Joe's honor, wear some bright colors, extend and extra act of love and kindness and most of all remember Joe's humor and talents. A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, June 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Ave., Meriden, CT.

I briefly knew Joe from classes at MHS class of 1964.
He always presented as intelligent, kind and a gentle person.( my impression).
Not seeing him for years, I hope his life´s dreams were fulfilled.
Again, to the entire Longo family, I am so sorry for your loss.
