Marilyn Ann (Acabchuk) Statchen, a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away from this world on Monday, April 8, 2024. She was the wife of the late Carl Paul Statchen, Sr.
Born in Meriden, CT on November 30, 1937, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (McCann) Acabchuk. She graduated from Meriden High School in 1955. Marilyn attended Central Connecticut State Teacher's College in New Britain where she received a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1959. While attending college, she met her future husband, Carl. Shortly after her graduation, she put aside her teaching career ambitions to marry and become a full-time mother. She later returned to Central Connecticut State College where she earned a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
In her younger years, Marilyn loved to travel around New England taking in the sights. She also had a love of antiques and loved to collect them throughout her life. She was a person who enjoyed her privacy, peace and quiet and the simple pleasures of life.
Marilyn is survived by her two sons, Carl Paul Statchen, Jr. and Jonathan Scott Statchen; her two beloved granddaughters, Sierra Jeannette Irwin and Carly Danielle Statchen and her brother Jack Acabchuk and his wife Audrey. She was predeceased by her daughter Catherine Margaret Statchen.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, April 14th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 15th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden, CT 06450. Everyone is asked to meet at the church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
