Marty Tiezzi Obituary

Marty Angelo Tiezzi, 56, of Hartford, CT, died Saturday evening, January 29, 2021, because of complications from heart disease that he had been suffering from for several years. Marty was born on March 6, 1964, in Meriden, CT, to Zelindo Marivo and Pauline Tiezzi. Marty lived in several places including MA and CA before returning to CT. He attended Maloney High School in Meriden where he excelled in both education, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, and sports including football, soccer, hockey, wrestling, and golf where he became the captain and will be forever recognized as a golfing legend for his "Hole-in-One". He was also part of the Drama Club. As one can see by the diversity of activities, Marty never lacked the courage to try and to succeed. Even as a youngster, with his short and stocky frame, who can forget when he played junior football and the cry from the stands would come from his father, "Giva dee ball to Marty!". In those same years he also excelled in baseball by becoming the homerun champ in Little League with 17 homeruns! Those were the days when McDonald's offered a hamburger to any kid that hit a homerun, they stopped giving hamburgers after that season. Marty continued his education at the University of Connecticut where he graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Art Degree in Biological Science/Premed. As part of the UConn community, he served as dormitory Vice-President and became a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He later was an Officer on the Alumni Board. After college Marty started his professional career working with several pharmaceutical and medical supply companies continuing to excel in his role as a salesperson instructing doctors on the uses of many medical devices. He received several awards during this period. Marty later went on to create his own sales company, Bio-Info Marketing Services, with the purpose of representing various Bio-Pharmaceutical products throughout the medical industry. He is survived by his mother, Pauline, his brother Steven with wife Lisa and nephews Nicolas and Alexander, his sister Laura with nephews Isaiah and Griffin, and his sister Carla. He will also be missed by his UConn Family and his dear friends in Italy. We will always remember his larger-than-life personality and hope he can Rest in Peace in Paradise.

Due to the current pandemic, all services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. In lieu of flowers, Marty's family would appreciate donations to The American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231, or to another charity of your choice. Rest In Peace Marty. Aunt Pauline, Steven, Laura and Carla I hope the days and weeks to come allow you all to find peace and comfort in your grief. Knowing he is at peace is a blessing. Filling the void from his loss won’t be easy, hold on to the happy memories and feel that joy. If all else fails imagine the “conversation” your father, Uncle Mario to me, had with him on the other side.....that’ll dry a tear or two. Above all don’t forget to breathe. Love, Deanna

Marty’s personality was truly larger than life. Though I haven’t seen him in many years, I remember him well and fondly from our fraternity days and numerous intramural sports teams. My deepest condolences to his family and other friends.

I was so saddened when I read about Marty's passing. I went to Mt. Carmel with Marty. He was always positive and fun. I can still see him playing on the basketball team -- all heart. May God bless him on his journey home.
