Sylvia Gee Obituary

SOUTHINGTON - Sylvia E. Gee, 81, of Southington, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in Southington. She was the beloved wife of the late Karl Winston Gee.

Sylvia was born on Dec. 23, 1929 in Canada, to the late Herbert and Beulah (Lloyd) MacDougall. Sylvia moved to Southington in 1958, where she proudly raised her family. She took pride in caring for her family and making a home that was welcome to all. Sylvia adored her family more than life itself and found joy in any moments spent with them. Her loving demeanor is one that will be greatly missed.

She leaves her three loving daughters, Karla Duffy, of Southington, Sandi Cyr, of Bristol, and Kristyl Gee and her husband, Ken Johnson, of Southington; a son-in-law, David Cyr, of Southington; seven grandchildren, Padraic Duffy, Neil, David, Bill and Kelsey Cyr, Karl and Kylie Johnson; and four great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Kimberly and Aiden Cyr and Nathan Duffy. She also leaves her brother, the Rev. Elmer Elliott and his wife, Rose, of Canada; and her aunt, who was like a sister and friend, Florence McLaughlin; along with several nieces and nephews; and her precious dogs, Lulu, Alfie, Max, Skooter, Romeo and Fiona. She was predeceased by her brothers, Gerald, Milton and Wavel; and a special sister, Christine.

A celebration of Sylvia's life will be held on Thursday, June 23, at 11 a.m., at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville. Committal services will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Family and friends may gather an hour before the services from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorial contributions in Sylvia's name may be made to her great-grandsons, Aiden Cyr and Austin Scott Cyr, college fund.
