Walter Swick Obituary

NORTH BRANFORD - Walter Swick, 88, of North Branford, passed away on June 11, 2010, at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford.

He was born in New Haven, in 1921 and was a tool and die maker at the time of his retirement from the O.F. Mossberg Company in 1982. He was a graduate of Hillhouse High School in 1939. Walter was a decorated three-stripe sergeant in the 9th Air Force Division during World War II. He served in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns (ETO). He was a decorated veteran. He served for three years, three months. He was a former member of the New Haven Astronomical Society and had a great love of words through his completion of the daily crossword puzzle.

He leaves a loving family, his wife of 59 years, Wanda; his daughter, Patricia Driscoll and her husband, Brian of Branford; his son, Robert and his wife, Brenda of Wallingford. He also leaves three grandchildren, Jason Driscoll and his wife, Kate, Alaina Driscoll and Heather Swick. He also leaves two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Lauren Driscoll.

Family and friends may call at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford, on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Therese Church, Branford, 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Memorial donations may be made to: CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd.
