Wayne King Obituary

Wayne Thomas King (Kingerman)
Wayne Thomas King (Kingerman), 69, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, after a brief illness.
Wayne was a graduate of Maloney High School in Meriden. He had a love for cars, especially the numerous Roadrunners he owned in his earlier years. Wayne was an employee of Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in CT for over 40 years before he retired in 2014. He spent his retirement remodeling and landscaping his childhood home, where he resided his entire life. Many days were also spent at the golf course, which was a lifelong passion of Wayne's. He loved his yearly golf trips to Myrtle Beach with past Pratt and Whitney co-workers. His last 18 holes were spent with his nephew-in-law Chris Newman. Wayne also loved sitting outside by a fire with the music as his background. He treasured his large CD collection and was an avid music lover. Over the past 8 years, he made many trips down to North Carolina. While there, Wayne loved floating the French Broad River, playing pool at the local pool hall, browsing the local Record Store, and landscaping the yards of his niece and his sister. His dedication and eagerness to help his family was uncanny. Wayne was such a generous and kind soul.
He is survived by his sister Cheryl (King) Smith of Hendersonville, NC, his niece Heather (Smith) Smith-Newman and her husband Chris Newman of Asheville, NC, and a great-nephew Lenox Newman of Asheville, NC. He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Eleanor (O'Connor) King, his brother Greg King, and nephew Ryan Smith.
As per Wayne's wishes, there are no services. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. For online condolences, please visit jferryfh.com.

Wayne was the best neighbor anyone can ask for. I looked forward to see his update work on his landscaping. I´ll miss the late night smell of wood burning from his outdoor chimney. His smile and welcoming hi when driving by his home from work. His story telling from his pervious days and trips to NC. He´s was a great person and even better storyteller. I was honored to be his neighbor for 8 years. I remember our last conversation so vividly. That optimism smile. I truly believed everything would be in his favor. He was that believable in when he spoke. His smile and contagious outgoing personality will always go with us. We loved you Wayne. You were a great man. Thank you!
