Candace Loughrey Obituary

Candace Loughrey

Northfield, MA - Candace Bleakley Loughrey, of Old Turnpike Road in Northfield, died April 25 at Fisher Home Hospice in Amherst after a valiant struggle following a stroke. She was 77. She was born May 27, 1946, along with her twin sister Jacalyn, in Greenfield, MA, the daughter of Norman J. Bleakley and Alice (Wolfram) Bleakley of South Deerfield. She attended Deerfield elementary schools and was a 1964 graduate of Frontier Regional School, where her classmates voted her "cutest" in Senior Superlatives. Following graduation, she worked in the South Deerfield Police Department and at Four Acre Farms, Northfield-Mt. Hermon School, and Vermont Yankee, where she rose to the position of Medical Services Coordinator. She retired in 2003. Candy loved working with computers, tending her ever-expanding gardens, shopping with her twin, sarcastic humor, and almost any abused or injured animal.

She is survived by her twin sister Jacalyn Bell, her older sister Margaret Telega, brothers-in-law Gerry Bell and Peter Telega, and nephew Todd Cichy and niece Kimberly Bennett. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Pamela Wrisley, the love of her life Paul Berube, and her best friend of the last twenty years Larry Loughrey. She also has several dogs anxiously awaiting her arrival at Rainbow Bridge.

No visiting hours are planned, and funeral and committal services, arranged by Kidder Funeral Home of Northfield, will be private. Her family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Fisher Home for the care and compassion they extended to Candy in her last weeks. They are truly angels without wings.
