Carol Campbell Obituary

Carol Jean Campbell

Vernon, VT — Carol Jean Campbell, 68, died on July 4, 2021 at home in Vernon, VT.

Carol was born on March 25, 1953, the daughter of Robert and Bertha (Welcome) Campbell of Montague Center. She attended Montague Center School, and graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1971. She then earned her certification as a dental hygienist from McCann Vocational School.

Following graduation, she began her career at Greenfield Dental, where she later became the office manager. She spent the rest of her life working as the office manager in such diverse places as dental practices, ice cream manufacturing, charitable foundations, and a naturopathic practice. She was efficient and organized to the nth degree.

Carol loved creating beauty for others to enjoy. Being outside digging in the dirt brought her great joy. She was a former member of the Greenfield Garden Club, and wherever she lived, she planted beautiful gardens. She was a gifted and talented stained glass and mosaic artist. She made beautiful pieces for her family, as well as many church craft fairs. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. The quilts she made for her family will bring comfort for years to come.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Melanie Wade, and her grandchildren, Zach, Eryn, Wilson and Mya of Bernardston, MA, and Jack and Emma Barnes of Arizona. She is also survived by her partner and husband, David Mongillo of Vernon, her sisters, Debra Campbell Collins of Brattleboro, Diane (Alan) Kurkulonis of South Deerfield, Karen (Jerry) Kelley of Gill, and brother, Thomas (Barbara) of Northfield. She was predeceased by her son, Joshua Barnes, in 2006.

A funeral service in celebration of her life will take place on July 22, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Church of Saints James and Andrew, 8 Church St., in Greenfield, MA. Burial will follow in South Cemetery, Leyden, MA.

Donations in Carol's memory can be made to The Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew (SsJA).

My heart is sadden on the loss of your beautiful sister. In between our childhood in Montague Center and seeing her (and your collective) talented creations of recent years, you were all blessed to have such a wonderful family. I hope all of your happier memories will get you through this sad time. With love to you all.
