Turners Falls, MA — Eric G. Vinton, 80, of Turners Falls passed away Tuesday September 13, 2022, at Western Massachusetts Hospital in Westfield, MA. He was born in Plainfield, NJ on December 11, 1941, the son of Clyde and Evelyn (Brunner) Morrison. He grew up in Chicopee and Indian Orchard. He attended college at Holyoke Community College.

Eric held several jobs in the surrounding communities. He enjoyed all of his careers, especially driving trucks delivering oxygen. He worked in the food industry, having been employed by Friendly's, Jim Dandy and Magic Wings. He was a strong leader and enjoyed being a manager.

Eric loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming, biking, skiing, softball, tennis, bowling and golfing. He especially loved sharing these activities with his children and grandchildren. Eric loved food, including his favorite candies and ice cream. He was always known to have a pocket filled with root beer barrels and candy to share with his family. Eric was known for his gregarious sense of humor. He lit up every room he entered with his jokes and laughter. As Eric grew older, he loved to attend the Erving and Montage Senior Centers where he enjoyed taking painting classes and Tai Chi. Eric was very competitive and loved to play board games and card games. He attended the Turners Falls library and enjoyed reading. Eric was extremely supportive of his family, especially his grandchildren. Eric was always on time for appointments and picking up his grandchildren from school. He was at every sports game, musical and graduation. Eric loved to drive no matter the vehicle. His favorite was a cream-colored Honda moped. He zipped around on it with a grin from ear to ear.

Eric leaves his children; daughter Lora S. Graves and her husband Tim Graves, Thomas E. Vinton, and Kimberlee A. Illig and her husband Scott Illig. Eric leaves his grandchildren; Cayla S. Plasse, Makenzie R. Plasse, Paul X. Vinton, Luis Thomas Vinton, Ryan Illig and Morgan Illig. He leaves a great-grandson Milo Mimitz. He also leaves the mother of his children Susan M. Vinton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Erving Senior Center.

Graveside services will be held at Green River Cemetery at a time and date to be announced.
