Ernest Lively Obituary

ERVING - Mr. Ernest "Ernie" Edward Lively, Jr. of Erving MA, died peacefully on June 30, 2018 in Athol, MA at the age of 76.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lois Lively of Erving MA; son, Travis & daughter in law, Jyl Lively of Murrieta, CA; son, Deven Lively of Glasgow, VA; son, Jamie Lively of Hammond, LA; grandchildren, Seth Lively,  Alaina Lively,  Calysta "Charlie" Lively, Marcus Lively, Alex "Nessy" Lively, Jonas Lively, and Murphy Lively. He is also survived by his sister, Rosanne Emond; brother, John Lively; sister Mary Lively; sister Bonnie Phillips; and sister in law, Judy Lively; as well numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Bethany Eldridge; sister, Irene Michaud; and brother, Arthur "Bud" Lively.
Ernie was born November 15, 1941 in North Adams, MA to Ernest Edward Lively Sr. & Irene (Lanoue) Lively. He graduated from Frontier Regional High School in 1960 – after which he ultimately began his career as a truck driver. He married Lois in 1980. After 35 years, Ernie retired from driving truck and began his second career as a school bus driver with Kuzmeskus Bus Company – where he truly enjoyed the next 10 years spent both picking up and safely dropping off the children of Erving Elementary before finally retiring in 2017.
Ernie enjoyed football, baseball, hunting, playing fantasy football with his sons and their friends, traveling to watch his sons play both high school and college football, clay pigeon shoots with his best friend, Ed Ross, taking Jade (his dog) for rides up the mountain road and back in his golf cart.
Beloved and respected by all who knew him, Ernie was tenaciously hard working, extremely generous, witty, dedicated and an always forthright individual who positively impacted not only the lives of his own three sons, but also all their many friends and peers who essentially spent their elementary, high school and college years growing up at the Lively house. He is already missed by all…
A memorial service is scheduled for 10am on July 28, 2018 at Erving Congregational Church, Erving Center with a reception to follow at the French King Restaurant located in Erving on Route 2.  Reverend Victor Miller will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ernie's life.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that you can make a donation to the Ernest Lively Scholarship Fund, c/o Greenfield Cooperative Bank, 63 Federal Street, Greenfield MA 01301. The fund is for students who attended Erving Elementary. Any student who attended Erving Elementary School may apply beginning in spring of 2019.
