James Kasper Obituary

James Edward Kasper

Walpole, NH - James Edward Kasper passed away peacefully at his daughter's home on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. He was born in Fitchburg, MA on August 31, 1933, the son of Mary (Geyster) and Joseph Kasper. He grew up in Fitchburg and was a 1950 Graduate of St. Bernard's High School. He furthered his education at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He was also a U.S. Coast Guard veteran.

Jim had a successful 50-year career serving the dental industry. He enjoyed his work and made many friends.

Jim had a passion for horticulture and always looked forward to each season's bloom. In his later years he and his wife Rosemary traveled extensively, experiencing many different cultures. Wherever he traveled, he made friends. He loved people and never forgot a person's name or what they did.

His Wednesday lunch group was special to him. He looked forward to seeing John, Dana, Tim and Paul every week.

Jim cherished his family. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Rosemary (Rohan) Kasper. He is survived by his sisters Patricia Carrier and Beatrice Roy, daughter Sarah Morris and her husband Gary, son David and his wife Mary, granddaughters Helene, Lydia, Grace, Valerie, and Lindsay, along with his nephews and several cousins.

As Jim entered hospice, the caregivers at the end of his journey were wonderful. He and his family are forever grateful to Joan for guiding us along and for the compassion and care he received from Alison, Betsy, Donna, Kim, and Gayle, a truly special group of women.

At Jim's request, there will be no service. He will be laid to rest alongside Rosemary at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.

I'm very sorry to learn of Jim's passing. I had the pleasure of assisting Jim and Rosemary on numerous occasions when I was a staff member at the Keene Public Library. Jim was always friendly and pleasant and, after we discovered that we both had lived on Marshall Street in Fitchburg while young, he treated me like an old friend. Some people you wish could live forever, and Jim was one such person. I will never forget him! My deepest condolences to all of his family and friends. May they be comforted and strengthened.
