Jeremiah Dwyer Obituary

Jeremiah Michael Dwyer

Greenfield, MA - Jeremiah Michael Dwyer (Mike), 71, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Charlene Manor in Greenfield. Jeremiah was born in Greenfield, Ma. on January 5, 1954. Jeremiah was an amazing man and full of life to all that knew him. He loved his family fiercely and he had a sense of humor that would always make you laugh. He preferred to be called Mike. He was an extremely hard worker and wonderful provider for his family. When he wasn't working you could always find him playing his drums. Mike was a self taught drummer, it was his passion. He started drumming when he was 10 yrs old. He played in several bands over his lifetime. The last band he played in was Swift Kicks. They became Mikes second family, they played together for 20 years plus. He earned the nickname "Animal" from the muppets. Mike also enjoyed many hobbies. He enjoyed fishing, camping and loved making things from wood. Mike built so many things over the years for his family and friends. He also loved vacationing with his family at Hampton Beach or Cape Cod, he loved being near the ocean. Mike especially loved lifting weights with his stepson and Wednesday nights at the movies with his stepdaughter when they were growing up. He was an amazing and loving stepfather, he loved them as his own. While Mike was in Charlene Manor he loved his visits from family, friends and especially his beloved dogs Rascal and Bella. Mike was surrounded by his wife, stepdaughter, his dearest friends Becky and John, in his final days. Besides his loving wife, Darlene, of 36 years, he also leaves behind his 2 stepchildren and their families: Michael Moynihan and his wife Cynthia of Surprise, AZ; Tammy Shippee and her husband Steve of Clarksville, AR. He was a beloved Papa to his 5 step grandchildren Justin Shippee, Alex Shippee, Evan Shippee, Samuel Moynihan and Lily Moynihan. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind 2 brothers he deeply loved John, Dennis, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends he's made over the years. Mike was pre-deceased by his father Thomas F. Dwyer, his mother Ruth M. Dwyer (Morse) and a brother Thomas. Despite everything he went through with all his health conditions over the years he kept his spirits up and his humor. He was always making us laugh. We would like to extend our thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Charlene Manor. We also want to thank Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst, MA. For the amazing care and attention they gave Mike and his family in the last few weeks of Mikes life. There will not be any formal services but rather a Celebration of Life, to get together, to spend time laughing and sharing our memories of a wonderful man. A Celebration of Life is being planned for September 27, 2025 at the Moose Club in Greenfield, Ma. Starting at 2pm. Cremation arrangements are being handled by The Cremation Society of New Hampshire.

Darlene, I was sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I recall his band playing at the Horizon, and him working at Burger King. I hope you're finding comfort in your memories.

I will never ever forget the first time I heard Uncle Mike with Swift Kicks. I knew Mike to generally be a quiet man, soft spoken and sometimes a man of few words. But when he sang....it blew me away thinking that incredible voice came out of him!!!! He was an amazing and talented person and you could tell that music was his passion in life!!! I will also never forget the amazing times his family and my family had together....especially when he lived in Shelburne. The antics and practical jokes that him and my father would get into leaves me with so many memories of times filled with laughter and happiness. Mike will surely be missed and I know him and my dad will continue to be up to no good now that they're together again for eternity. All of my family's love to all you.
