Leah Brownstein Obituary
Springfield, MA — Leah "Melissa" Brownstein, age 44, of Springfield, MA passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022. She is survived by her father, Dana Brownstein of DeBary, Florida, and his wife, Judy Brownstein; daughter Olivia Johnson of Phoenix, Alabama; Brother, Micah Brownstein of Colora, Maryland, and his wife, Akiko; Niece & Nephews; Sho, May, and Rei Brownstein and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Melissa grew up in Greenfield where she attended the Center School. She went to Pioneer Regional High School for three years and finished her senior year at Rock Point School in Burlington, Vermont. Her ultimate teenage experience was following the Grateful Dead and Phish Band for a year.
She lived in Springfield where she enjoyed raising her daughter Olivia and spending time in Forest Park. Melissa was so much more than her struggles. She liked to cook Nana's recipes, dance, dress up, and draw. Anyone that truly knew Melissa knew she had a heart of gold.
She loved fiercely and deeply, and we take comfort in knowing that Melissa is now at peace surrounded by the light of her golden glow.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 12, at 12 p.m. at the Wrisley Funeral Home Chapel, 90 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield.
