Margaret (Peggy) Kavanagh

Greenfield, MA - Margaret Mary Kavanagh, 79, of 26 Wildwood Ave, passed away on November 10, 2024, in her home, surrounded by her family.

Peggy was born on November 30, 1944, in West Chester, PA, to Francis and Ruth (Brown) Kavanagh. She grew up in West Grove, PA, and graduated from St. Elizabeth's High School in 1962. She served in the Woman's Army Corp during the Vietnam Era and was stationed at Supreme Headquarters, Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Paris, France, and Mons, Belgium. She was honorably discharged in 1967. Peggy met the father of her children in the army, and they were married in Belgium. They then moved to Greenfield. Peggy worked as a receptionist at Lunt's Silversmith and then as a Crocker Communications answering service telephone operator. Later, she became a daycare provider to be home with her children. Peg received an Associate's degree from GCC and a Bachelor's degree from UMASS. She enjoyed tag sales and family trips to Ocean City, NJ. Peg was a terrific cook. She loved picnics and celebrations with family and friends in the backyard. She was a talented baker and cake decorator. In recent years, she enjoyed playing sudoku, spending time in her backyard listening to the birds, and admiring her beautiful plants and flowers.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Ruth Kavanagh; her first son, Mark Christopher; her siblings, Pat Ament, Shirley Taylor, and Edward Kavanagh; and her former husband, Jim Sutton.

Peggy is survived by her 12 children: Amy Socquet and husband Paul of Greenfield, Aaron Sutton and his wife Erica Liu of Brighton, Aric Sutton of Cambridge, Adrian Gilmore and her wife Hayley of Bernardston, Annie Silva and her husband Dave of Westborough, Ashley Sutton and her wife Talia Williams of Williston, VT, AJ Sutton and his fiance Brit Hulslander of Greenfield, Andy Sutton of Greenfield, Alyssa Sutton of Amherst, Akeya Sutton of Greenfield, Ajoshua Sutton of Somerville, and Aydon Sutton of Canton, her 13 grandchildren, her sister Mary Ruth Hammond of West Grove, PA and her boyfriend Phil Nelson of Richville, New York.

Arrangements under the Cremation Society are being held privately per Peg's wishes. Condolences and memories may be sent to 26 Wildwood Ave, Greenfield, MA 01301.
