Mark A. Matusz

Turners Falls, MA - Mark A. Matusz, 65, of Willmark Ave died Tuesday 4/16/24 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 26, 1958, the son of Thomas and Shirley (Sopellec) Matusz. He attended local schools in Montague and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School, Class of 1976.

Mark was a carrier for the United States Postal Service in Turners Falls for thirty-four years before his retirement.

Mark was a long-time member and the treasurer of the Schuetzen Verein. He was a long-time member and served as president and recent treasurer of St. Stans. He played in shuffleboard leagues throughout his life. He collected James Patterson books, baseball cards and stamps. He was in the Montague men's softball league for many years. He was a varsity baseball pitcher and tried out for the minor leagues. Mark enjoyed many nights with friends and family watching the Patriots, singing, and generally having a great time. He was an avid fantasy footballer, loved doing crossword puzzles and could do a jigsaw puzzle upside down. He was a fierce competitor with everything from card games to cornhole and never went easy on anyone.

Besides his beloved wife of forty-one years Patricia (Dziekonski) Matusz, Mark leaves four daughters, Meagan Vigliarolo and her husband Domenic of Cranston, RI, Melissa Albright-Jenkins and her wife Kate of Northampton, Carrie Tirrell and her husband Lee of Turners Falls, and Emily Sexton and her husband Sean of CT; six grandchildren, Raffaela and Viviana Vigliarolo, Ella and Mia Nykorchuk and Madison and Brooke Tirrell; a brother, Brian Matusz of Turners Falls; two sisters, Darlene Fahey and her husband Michael of Easthampton and Brenda Ozdarski and her husband Roger of Turners Falls; several nieces and nephews, especially his favorite nephew, Jeffrey Dash and his wife Veronica; and many Schmadics.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday 4/27 at 1:00PM at the Scheutzen Verein, 55 Barton Cove Rd., Gill, MA 01354. A memorial mass will be held in the near future.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of his beloved Skippy and Lola and his love for Carlton to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office Regional Dog Shelter, 10 Sandy Lane, Turners Falls, MA 01376.

Mark was our mailman for 20 years. He was such a nice guy, and we are so very sad to hear of his passing. Our dog Brava was in love with him, and we´re pretty sure it was mutual.
