Norman A. Sanders
Webster, MA - Norman Allen Sanders, 91, formerly of Venice, FL and Sunderland, MA, passed away October 14, 2025 with family by his side. He was born on October 3, 1934 in Greenfield, MA, to the late Clarence and Barbara (Taft) Sanders, spent his formative years in Hadley, MA, and graduated from Hopkins Academy in Hadley.
Shortly after graduating, Norman married the love of his life, Joyce, and together they shared 64 beautiful years filled with love and lasting memories until her passing in 2019. Together, they traveled the world and made many friends along the way. They also dedicated their time and compassion as hospice volunteers for many years. While residing in Florida, Norman and Joyce created lasting memories with family and friends during their summer trips to Townshend, VT.
Norman proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1957-1961. Following his service, he began a lifelong career in plumbing and heating, working alongside his father and later taking over the family business. Norman will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann (Brackney) Sanders; and siblings, Robert and wife Sylvia, William and David Sanders. He is survived by his siblings, twin sister Nancy Fay and husband Earl, Richard Sanders and partner Maryann, Barbara Kirouac and her late husband Real, Mildred Snape and husband Lawrence, Martha Jenks and her late husband Robert, Irving Sanders and wife Karen, Gene Sanders and partner Susan; sister-in-law, Cinderella; brother-in-law Robert Brackney and wife Johanna; care giver and niece, Pamela (Jenks) Cotton, her husband William, and their children, Amanda and Rebecca Cotton; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his aides that treated him like family and allowed him to live his best life- Margaret, Margaret, John, Paul, Andrew, Armatage, James, and Lois-We will forever be grateful to all of you. Thank you to JHC Hospice for their care over the past few months and allowing Norman to pass peacefully and with dignity. Thank you to the entire staff of Christopher Heights of Webster for their guidance and care for Norman over the past five years.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home with a period of visitation from 9-11am and a service to begin at 11am. Burial will immediately follow in North Sunderland Cemetery.
