Robert W. "Bob" Widdison

GREENFIELD - Robert "Bob" W. Widdison, 83, of Shattuck Street died Friday 8/2/13 at home.
He was born in Greenfield on April 18, 1930 the son of Charles W. and Dorothy L. (Crosby) Widdison.
Bob attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1948.
Bob was a United States Navy Veteran serving from 1948-1952.
He worked for LaPierres from 1952-1955. He then went on to become a civil engineer for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation where he worked on the construction of the Interstate Highway System serving the cities and towns of Western Massachusetts.
Bob was a life member of the Elks Club of Greenfield.
His favorite pastimes were reading, puzzles and golf. He loved his vegetable garden and especially loved the time he spent with his family.
Besides his wife of 61 years, the former Valerie Piper, Bob leaves his children, Susan Budrewicz and her husband Richard, Paula McKee and her husband Paul, Jon Widdison and his wife Linda, Gail Strong, Mark Widdison and Timothy Widdison, his grandchildren, Betsy and Jay Budrewicz, Katelin and Matthew McKee, Kara and Emily Widdison, Amy and Courtney Strong, Alexander, Hannah and Christopher Widdison, and Matthew and Hailey Widdison, his great-grandson Jacob LaFlamme and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his brother Paul J. Widdison.
A memorial service will be held Thursday 8/8/13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield.
Burial will follow at Green River Cemetery with military honors to be observed.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
