Wanda Coates Obituary

Wanda D. Coates

Greenfield, MA — Wanda D. Coates, 65 of Greenfield, MA passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2022 after being surrounded by her family throughout her battle with cancer. She was born on April 21, 1957, to Robert F. Coates and Margaret L. (Arabia) Coates. She worked as a daycare provider and at the Farren Care Center in Turners Falls for many years, caring for others. More recently, she worked at Lightlife Foods, HeatFab, and Yankee Candle until she retired to Florida in 2019, where she lived for 3 years. She was a member of the First Methodist of Interlachen and volunteered for the church thrift store.

Spending time with family meant the most to her. She adored her grandchildren and would make holidays very special for them. Christmas was her favorite holiday to spend with her grandchildren, hosting sleepovers, watching Christmas movies, making gingerbread houses, having a special dinner, and hiding a Christmas ornament with a Hershey kiss inside for the kids to find. She loved watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade each Thanksgiving to watch the Santa come to town. She enjoyed ceramics, fishing, having coffee with her daughter and playing games after work, cookouts, nature, The Heath Fair, and her friends. She was a kind and gentle soul who always had a smile on her face that everyone loved. She will be greatly missed by many.

She leaves behind her Former Spouse of 12+ years Philip Kidder, their children, Michael Kidder, Tricia and (Jason) Torrey, and her youngest son David and (Kendra) Fiske. Her grandchildren Sabrina, Haley, Alexis, Taylor and Joseph Kidder and Aaliyah, Mya, Bella, and Leo Fiske, and two Great grandchildren Kyla and Kayden Garland, her siblings Robert D. Coates, Linda and (Roger) Hill, Cindy and (Bobby) Coates, Shawn and (Debra) Coates, Christine Coates, and Adam Royer, and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life at her request at a later date.
