Jacob Emory Hunter

1953 - 2022

In Loving memory we announce the passing of Jacob Emory Hunter.
Jacob was born to Marcus and Virginia Hunter on May 10, 1953. He passed on to Spirit World on January 24, 2022 in Whittier, California.
Jacob attended local schools in Porterville. He graduated from Porterville High School and attended Porterville College where he studied carpentry. This skill helped him to help others, mainly family when making home improvements during his time here.
Jacob's employment consists of working with the Tule River Child Care Center as a caregiver to pre-school age children, as a Teachers Aid for Vandalia School, Counselor at the Tule River Alcoholism Program and as a Forestry Resource Aid planting trees. Jacob also volunteered couching the young boys and girls during the softball/baseball season teaching them the sport that he loved to play.
Jacob is survived by his son Jake E. Hunter of Tipton, California and daughter Jacinda M. Hunter of the Tule River Reservation, granddaughters Justina Hunter and Sky Hunter, grandsons Lil Jake Hunter and Emory Buck Hunter, great-granddaughter U'shayla She-el Alvarado Hunter and God-Child Marcus "Mark" Hunter, III. His sisters Marcia Hunter Estrada, Irma Hunter, Sonne Nieto, Michele McDarment from the Tule River Reservation and sister Alma Hunter from Seattle, Washington. He is survived by his brothers James (Jim) Hunter and Morris Hunter both from the Tule River Reservation.
Jacob was preceded in death by his Grandparents Philip and Laura Emeterio Hunter, Gregorio and Alotha (Elogia) Gaudette Santos, parents Marcus and Virginia Santos Hunter, brothers Philip (Phil D.) Hunter and Marcus Hunter, Jr., sisters Phyllis Rubio, Rhoda Hunter, Melissa Hunter, and Lorraine Hunter.
Services for Jacob will be Monday, February 7, 2022, viewing from 2pm to 4pm at Porterville Funeral & Cremation Center. At 4pm a funeral procession will follow to the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church on the Tule River Reservation with Rosary at 6pm. On Tuesday, February 8, 2022 Mass will start at 10am with burial to follow at the Upper Cemetery on the Tule River Reservation.
