James T. Garfield

1997 - 2016

James Tyler Garfield age 18, a member of the Tule River Indian Tribe and lifelong resident of the Tule River Indian Reservation passed away January 12, 2016. James was born July 17, 1997 to William "Willie" Garfield and Shawna Hoffman at Porterville, CA and attended Burton Pathways Charter Academy where he competed on the Boys Golf Team and Porterville High School. He was an avid outdoorsman and was always planning his next camping trip where he could get in some good fishing and hunting.
Even though James was with us for only a short time, his spirit and love will remain captured forever deep within our hearts.
James was preceded in death by his grandfather William Monte Garfield and his grandmother Rebecca Jo Manuel-Banuelos.
Surviving family includes his parents Willie Garfield and Shawna Hoffman of the Tule River Indian Reservation. Grandfather Earl Hoffman of Inchelium, WA. Grandmother Renee Franco of the Tule River Indian Reservation. Siblings: William Monte Garfield, Breanna Renee Garfield and Aili Sienna Garfield all of the Tule River Indian Reservation.
A Rosary and Wake will begin at 6:00pm Tuesday January 19th at the Mater Dolorosa Catholic Mission on the Tule River Indian Reservation. Funeral Services will begin 10:00am Wednesday January 20th at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Mission followed by interment at the Upper Reservation Cemetery.
