Maria Ledesma

1941 - 2022

Our beloved mother, Maria Ledesma, was born on May 8, 1941 to Federico and Maria Gurrola in Durango, MX. She passed away on Thursday, July 14th in her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81.
Prior to moving to Porterville, she lived in Indio, California where she was a homemaker. Once in Porterville, she loved to care for children and her hobbies included cooking, sewing, watching her "novelas" and spending time reading her prayer books and attending church activities.
She leaves behind three sons, Baldo Gurrola, daughter-n-law, Marisela Gurrola; Leo Ledesma, daughter-in-law Megan Ledesma; Guadalupe Ledesma Jr, and daughter-in-law Crystal Martinez. She had two daughters, Juanita Zavala and Lydia Suarez and son-n-law, Rene Suarez. She had 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
She also had many, many nieces and nephews. She is survived by two brothers, Salvador and Carlos Gurrola and a sister, Patricia Gurrola.
Our mother was loved by so many and was a "gramma" to many children. She was the matriarch of the family who had a loving heart and genuine soul.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Ledesma; siblings Elida, Nellie, Sergio and Victor Gurrola and Jesus Salas.
Viewing will be held on July 25th from 3 to 7 PM with rosary at 6 PM at Porterville Funeral Center. Mass to be held on July 26th at 11 AM at Holy Cross church in Porterville. She will be laid to rest at Hillcrest cemetery.
