Naomi Lozano Obituary

Naomi C. Lozano passed away peacefully at home in Porterville on Friday, June 10, 2016. She was born June 8,1942 in Oaxaca, Mexico; daughter of Maria H. Chavez and Joseph Chavez.
She was brought to the United States at a very young age where she and her family worked in the fields. She wanted more out of life and decided to start her education. Naomi attended Strathmore High School where she graduated with honors and scholarships that would allow her to attend college. She began her journey at UC Santa Barbara where she obtained her degree in Biological Science. She also spent a year working in a dental lab for Richard Lincoln. She then chose to further expand her education and attend Porterville College where she obtained a degree in Business Administration. This all gave her the opportunity to work at Lindsay Olive as a Quality Control Inspector where she became the first woman to hold an executive management position, and the only woman in a department to receive the annual "outstanding award" for improvement in any department. After the plant shut down she worked for Early California Foods and then at Vlasic Foods both located in Visalia. She found a home working for Safeway Corporate in Walnut Creek, California. She retired in 2011 as a Quality Assurance Auditor. She was a dedicated worker who devoted herself to any job she had. She was also very devoted to her family.
Naomi is survived by her husband, Jesse E. Lozano Sr.; son, Jesse E. Lozano Jr.; daughter, Noemi Lozano O'Connor, and her three grandchildren, Demeraye M. O'Connor, Payton Lozano and Jacob A. Lozano. She also had two godchildren, Rosalio Chavez Jr. and David Flores Jr. Naomi had a very large family including her three brothers, five sisters, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Naomi has entered many hearts through her kindness, her welcoming personality, her selflessness and her love for others. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend and an overall loving and caring person to all she came in contact with. She had a very big heart with so much love to give. She will be greatly missed for she was truly loved by all family, friends and those who knew her.
A Rosary will be held at Myers Chapel on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Anne's Church on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Dear Lozano Family,
Please accept my most heartfelt condolences for the passing of your mom, wife, sister, Godmother, and my friend. I just arrived home from Texas after leaving on June 7 to hear of this sad, sad news. I am sorry to have missed her services, but I smile when I think of her and know she is in heaven with our Lord and all that have gone before her. She was an inspiration to all of us at St. Anne's School and her devotion and service throughout the years will not be forgotten. I will miss knowing she is not here, but am happy to know she is not suffering and is with God. My thoughts, prayers and love are with you!

Naomi was a valued customer and a true friend to me and my company. Naomi's friends here at Pacific Coast Producers truly appreciated Naomi's counsel and companionship for many years. Her solid advice and limitless patience allowed us to maintain and build our Safeway business and solidify our partnership with a renewed quality reputation. We are thankful for Naomi and wish her family the best during these hard times.

Sincerely,

Naomi came to our plant every week during the processing season to approve our products for Safeway. We are canners who produce tomatoes, peaches and fruit cocktail.

After our initial terror of her sometimes unflattering comments about our products, we listened and learned from her experience and knowledge. The result was we became a better processor through her generosity; after all she could easily have just cut us off. We also became friends. She spoke often and fondly about her family and how much she loved you all. She expressed tremendous appreciation for her parents and brothers and sisters and of course how much she learned growing up on the farm.

Most of all she loved her daughter and son and grandchildren.
She was a woman of great faith, wisdom, humor and most importantly heart.
I am certain you will all miss her terribly. We are grateful to have known her.
Sincerely,
Margaret Eccleston

To the Lozano Family, So sad to hear of the passing of your beautiful matriarch. Naomi was an inspiration to me because of her great educational accomplishments in spite of her humble beginnings.
