Steven Lewis Obituary

The Lewis family lost a piece of their hearts on October 5th as Steve took his final breath at the UCSF ICU. He passed away surrounded by the love and comfort of his family; his wife Sandy laying by his side and his two children, Shelby and Jack, holding his hands.
Steve was not only a friend to many but was an integral part of our community. In the words of a close friend-turned-family and fellow Rotarian, "Steve was a community leader, especially in his field, and never turned a cheek to someone in need. He leaves a void in our community and in our lives." His family takes this opportunity to thank all of his friends, patients, and work family throughout the years for the love and joy you have added to their lives.
Steve was truly a special one-of-a kind man. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was his family's source of fun and laughter and they will forever miss his uplifting, wise, and silly spirit. His humble and kind nature leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.
A memorial service will be held in Steve's honor at the Porterville Seventh Day Adventist Church located at 1088 W Linda Vista Ave on November, 14 at 10:30 AM. Steve's service will be open to the public and the interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider visiting the fundraising page the Lewis family established in Steve's honor with proceeds benefitting the UCSF Transplant Family Fund. Not only did UCSF care for their family through his life-changing kidney transplant, they also showed the utmost compassion to the Lewis' during his recent stay in the ICU. In a time where families have shared final goodbyes from afar, UCSF offered them the opportunity to be side by side- a priceless gift of human compassion. Sandy,
I just saw this. I had no idea he was sick. I had always thought I might get to see Steve again. I have always had great memories of our Dental School times and now will have this ache in my heart as time goes on! I'm sure your children are amazing and that they help you through these difficult times. If you ever want to reach out my email is attached. Take care and my prayers are with you!

"A Life Well Lived." I learned of Steve´s passing a few weeks ago and was stunned. Having been a patient and friend of Steve and his family for about thirty years I felt that I had lost a family member. Steve was genuinely one of the nicest people I´ve ever met as well as a gifted dentist who provided care over the years for my whole family. After the news sunk in, I sat in my truck and wept as the disbelief faded.

I pray that God´s mercy provides comfort to Sandy, Shelby, Jack, Connie, and Ed What a terrible loss but what a gift from God it must have been to have such a husband, father, and son. My most heartfelt condolences go to the Lewis family.

May God Bless You All.
