Trudy Bakalian Obituary

Trudy Lynn Bakalian, 60, of Terra Bella California passed away October 14, 2013 in Terra Bella. Trudy was born in Amarillo, Texas on December 11, 1952. Trudy's family eventually settled in Terra Bella, where she graduated from Porterville High School in 1971, she attended Fresno State College studying political science and returned to Terra Bella finding employment with Porterville School District as a bus driver and substitute teacher.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd from 3-7 PM at Myers Chapel. A Church service will be held on Thursday October 24th at 1:30 PM at the Presbyterian Church at 9482 Road 238 Terra Bella, Graveside service to follow at Vandalia Cemetery with a reception at the church from 4 to 6 PM.
Trudy was an Icon in all areas of children services for the school, city, and churches of Porterville. In the fall of 1999 Trudy became the Y.E.S. program coordinator for the district implementing many programs and after-school services for the children. Trudy was the foundation of the program in Porterville Schools overseeing over 1200 staff and students. Trudy gave her heart to the students and staff of the program. Trudy's most valued memories was fun Fridays, not only a lesson for students but staff too. She was also the union rep for CSCA and had enjoyed traveling and being a rep. Trudy was a Children's pastor at Believers Church and Sonlight Christian Fellowship for many years. She was an Ordained Minister and enjoyed presiding over Weddings.
Trudy loved spending time as a child riding horses, and later in life she would spend hours with her beloved mini horses. Trudy spent her spare time traveling, watching her grandchildren's events from volleyball games, to soccer, and school plays. Seth, Tressie, and Tristan were the light of her life. She also loved traveling with her sisters and their adventures. Trudy loved cooking and sewing and she never missed her nephew's motocross races, not only that, but Trudy was a certified Belly Dancer. She was indeed a fearless and compassionate good-natured woman able to diffuse any situation that would arise and bring peace to all around her.
Trudy was preceded in death by her Mother and Father Tim and Wanda Schoer. She is survived by her husband Glenn Bakalian of Terra Bella; Daughter Tracie Amparan and Husband Senny Amparan; three grandchildren, Seth, Tressie and Tristan Amparan all of Kingsburg; two sisters, Sherri Emerson and Timmie Schoer of Terra Bella; two brothers, Bill Emerson of West Yellowstone Montana and Bryan Mills of Oakdale CA; her Nephew, Dalton Wilbur of Terra Bella, and her loving step-mother Jan Lewis of Vaughn, Montana; many great nieces and nephews.

Glenn, Tracie, and Family...If I could find a common "thread" through Trudy's life...I would say she was a "Friend to All". She impacted the lives of so many, and will continue to impact the lives of others through the various programs and ministries she was a part of. Her legacy will continue not only in her family for generations to come, but in countless other families who have benifitted from her ministry. Our children (Tracie and Desiree) were raised together, and now my granddaughter is reaping the benifits of the Y.E.S. program...and that will impact her for the rest of even her life. Life is precious... Trudy reflected that here on earth, and now she is pointing to the joys of the eternal life that is so promised to those who believe in the One whom she represented...Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May her legacy continue to minister and lead others to the blessed Hope of Salvation! Tracie I hope to get an email from you someday so we can keep in touch! [email protected]

Trudy subbed in my wife Betty Wren's fourth grade classroom at Vandalia. Betty Wren recommended her when we needed a replacement teacher at Zion Lutheran School in Terra Bella. Trudy taught at Zion for one year and also drove the school bus. It was hard work. She drove the bus from her home in Porterville, picked up the kids, and brought them to school. After school she reversed the process. As Zion's principal I really appreciated her efforts. She helped us out when we were unable to secure a regularly trained Lutheran teacher. I am sorry to hear she passed away at such a young age. But I know she is now with Jesus.

Dear Glen,
We're so sad to hear of Miss Trudy's passing, but know that she is rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus! She so faithfully served Him by loving and serving His little ones, in, and outside the church! (including ours in the Perez and Dowling homes:)) God's comfort, and peace on you Glen, and Trudy's beloved family, as you wait to be reunited with her someday! With love and blessings in Jesus our King,
