Richard Sherrill Waters, Jr., of Washington Court House, Ohio died Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 11:09 a.m. at his residence after losing a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born October 19, 1935, in Fayette County, Ohio to Richard Sherrill and Marjorie Marie Minshall Waters. He was a graduate of Washington Senior High School and a member of the storied 1952 Undefeated Blue Lion football team. He was a lifelong resident of this community and was the owner and operator of Tower Mobile Home Park.
Richard attended The Gathering Place Church.
On May 5, 1956, he married the former Toni Marie Weatherly. Toni preceded him in death on March 31, 2024. He was also preceded by a son, Richard Sherrill Waters, III on July 23, 1963; by a sister, Rebecca Beam and her husband, Malcolm; a brother-in-law, Rodney Acton and a sister-in-law, Mila Schlichter.
He is survived by three children, Stephen Waters and his wife, Catherine, of Washington Court House, Tina Harris and her husband, Matt, of Sarasota, Fl and Jason Waters and his wife, Mandy, of Washington Court House; five grandchildren, Nathan (Dalanee) Waters, Krista Aills Whitt, Jacob (Mersades) Waters, Josh Waters and Jonah Waters; five great grandchildren, Maycee and Josiah Whitt, Lindsy (Lyle) Sweeney, Riley and Addie Waters; two great great grandchildren, Nora and Sloan Sweeney; two sisters, Ann Wead of Louisville, Ky and Mary Acton of Washington Court House.
A special thank you goes out to Adena Hospice (Jamie) and caregiver Margo (Mango) from Richard's family.
A private graveside service will be held for the family, at a date to be determined, in the Washington Cemetery with Pastor John Pfeifer, officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

Dick was a good man, easy to talk with, When Toni died he lost his best friend. They both will be missed. RIP Dick and Toni.
