Catherine Miloslavich Hackett
Catherine Miloslavich Hackett was a force of nature. She was still white water rafting well into her seventies, bought an RV
and camped all through her 80's, and God help us all was still driving into her 90's. She was still able to travel with her family until just a few months ago. There were many precious moments in our last beach vacation in May. We're so grateful we had that time together.
Catherine was born in 1913 in Stockton, CA, to Mary Louise Capitanich and Charles Anton Miloslavich. She remained a proud resident of San Joaquin County
for 93 years until she moved to Modesto to be with her daughter, Barbara Moran.
She was an avid supporter of local athletics and she took great pride in her volunteer work at the St. Joseph's Cancer Center, and also for the Sheriff's S.T.A.R.S. program.
One of Catherine's most amazing accomplishments was her decision to go back to school at the age of 50 to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Her career spanned 12 years at St. Joseph's Hospital. If you were ever sick, you'd want Catherine at your bedside.
Those of us who loved her appreciated her absolute passion for life. She never wanted to slow down, and was always excited and enthusiastic about the next big trip. That passion never left her, and she was disappointed to have to leave us.
Catherine passed away at about 10:45 p.m. on November 14th, 2010, at the age of 97, with her granddaughter at her side. She was ill for about 4 months with complications from a broken hip, as well as pancreatic cancer. In her final days, she was calm and comfortable. Her final moments were gentle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hackett, by her son, Tom, and by her brothers, Charles and Bob Miloslavich.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Moran, her daughter-in-law, Christine Hackett, her step brother Pat Lease, her grandchildren, Mary, David, Brian,
Andrea, and Staci, and by her two great grandchildren, Tommy and Annie. Catherine's passing leaves a huge hole in our lives. She was larger than life, and will be greatly missed.
There will be a Memorial lunch at O'Connor Woods at 3400 Wagner Heights Road, Stockton, CA 95209 on Monday, November 22 at 12:30 p.m. Join us to share memories, photos, and stories. Remembrances may be made to the St. Joseph's Cancer Center.

Dear Barbara and Family,
Catherine was a lovely person who became a surrogate grandma to my two girls. She was an inspiration to my daughters and myself. Thank you for sharing your mom with us. She will always be in our hearts.
Love Anita, Kellie and Heather.
