Daniel Nutley Obituary

Nov. 18, 1950 - Dec. 14, 2016

Daniel Joseph Nutley was born on November 18, 1950 and passed away December 14, 2016 after a brief but courageous battle with Leukemia. He is survived by his children Steven and Christopher, longtime partner Jeanette Cottle, daughter-in-law Molly, grandchildren James, Emma and Jack, and his estranged wife Luana. Dan graduated from Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento and the University of the Pacific in Stockton. In 1976 he began his 40 year career as an accomplished Certified Public Accountant and shortly after taught Accounting courses at his alma mater. Outside of work, he was most at peace at his cabin he built with his father and children, or on the California coast "rock picking" for abalone. Dan lived an extraordinary life, touching countless lives throughout his path. He drew satisfaction when given the opportunity to watch others succeed, be it on a personal or professional level. You would be hard fought to find a time he wasn't wearing a smile on his face. There will be a Memorial held in his honor on January 22, 2017 at noon at the Stockton Ballroom 9650 Thornton Rd, Stockton, CA 95209. In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.

I've known Dan since he was born and I will sorely miss him. He was the last of my first cousins and he left our world far too early. After visiting him at the hospital, I know he is now at peace.

Dan was a valued contributor to the Eberhardt School of Business and I was honored to have known him. Dan taught accounting classes and also served on the Eberhardt School's Advisory Board. He was a strong contributor to the development of accounting students at UOP and he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.

I just recently became acquainted with Dan and was shocked by his passing. I quickly noticed that he had a welcoming and graceful attitude that made me feel comfortable in a new group. Thank you Dan, and God Bless.

Dan was a champion of those around him. For many years he served on the Boards of Directors and Advisors of the Delta College Small Business Development Center and Women's Business Opportunities, providing great counsel and pro bono services to the Boards and clients. He was wonderfully gracious, maintained a lovely sense of humor, and yes, always had a smile.
Rest in peace, Dan. I am privileged to have known you.
