David Guardino Obituary

David Guardino
David Guardino (1943–2021) passed away peacefully on May 1. David began his life in North Beach, San Francisco, on August 11, to Louis Guardino and Florence Bradley. He was baptized at Saints Peter and Paul Church, and eventually moved to Stockton, where he attended Stagg High School and Delta College. He married his high school sweetheart, Suzanne Cyr. They had two children, John David and Kimberly Gay. He later remarried Patricia Hughes and they were married for 35 years until her passing in 2014. Dave began his career in construction, joining his father in the family business, Guardino-Crawford. After the passing of his father, Dave became sole owner and operator until his retirement. Dave was an avid golfer and a member of Spring Creek Country Club where he and Pat developed many long, lasting friendships. He enjoyed deep sea fishing trips to Alaska and Mexico, big July 4th parties at his ranch, dining at his favorite Italian restaurants in San Francisco and Santa Barbara, rides with his mules into the wine country with the "Hitch and Bitch", and most of all, spending time with his many friends and family. Dave had a witty sense of humor and was known for his favorite sayings, "That's the deal!" and "How much does a flagstick weigh? If you ever picked it up you'd know!" Over the years, Dave was active in his community and was a long time member of the local Carpenter's Union 152, Southside Stockton Lions and the Firehouse Gang. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Guardino, along with his brother Lawrence. He is survived by his two children, John and Kimberly, his stepchildren Richard, Jerry and Kathleen, his sister Carol, his beloved grandchildren, his companion Joyce Decker and many beloved relations.
We will remember him for his warmth, hospitality, mischievous smile, and sense of pride in his beloved ranch, planted with his favorite trees and vineyard. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Dave in his final days.
There will be a private service with his immediate family. We know Dave would tell you to please go out and have a nice dinner with good company in his memory.

That David guardino was a genuine article the real thing he was behind the umpire when the Red Sox play the Yankees and were three games down live television Damian stepped up to the plate two outs bottom of the night Damien hit the ball as it went up in the air it was going to be a grand slam and David guardino's finger pointed up in the sky and said thank God that really happened check

A great man, builder, and Stocktonian - we mourn his loss and know that he, Butch, and Cookie are probably shaking dice and thinking of friends and family here down on earth. God bless him and all his extended family who will miss this fine man that we were lucky to share time with here on this big blue marble.

Even though David was not my biological Grandpa, he will always remain just that in my eyes. He was the most loving man with a heart full of gold and hilarious to boot. You just gravitated towards him in all situations. He treated me like I was his own flesh and blood and I'm so lucky for that. There are too many memories to share here but growing up I spent most of my time with my Grandpa David and Grandma Pat. I lived in the trailer behind their existing home on the ranch while their home was being built. There was so much love and a unbreakable connection for me there that I would kick and scream as my parents would pick me up to take me home. I loved being around him and hearing his witty banter. "What do you think April? " he would say. "What do I think about what Grandpa?" His reply was always "I don't know, that's why I asked you," with a smile. There will never be another Grandpa David and the holiday's, especially Christmas, will never be the same. He made everything shine and special for everyone around him. I will miss you dearly Grandpa,.. for the rest of my life and I hope that we will be able to continue our bond that I love so much, when I pass. With all my heart and every bone in my body, I love you Grandpa so RIP and may there be many parties for you to host in the after life. Love April Quinn. Proud Granddaughter of David Guardino.

Fond memories of both Dave and his Father. Good people that I enjoyed doing business with. In later years, I always enjoyed meeting Dave out and about in restaurants. May he be blessed and rest in peace.
