Doris Cortopassi Obituary

Doris Cortopassi
Linden - Doris Cortopassi, aged 80, was born in Stockton, CA on September 20, 1940 to her loving parents Lado and Eva (Celle) Giovannoni. After battling numerous health challenges the past few years, Doris passed away in the hospital with a serious infection on January 16, 2021.
Doris lived nearly all of her life in the Linden area, and graduated from Linden high school and Humphreys College.
Shortly after Doris and Alvin Cortopassi were married in 1962, Doris left her job as a bookkeeper for the Wilkinson Grain Company to enter the next phase of her life as a home manager, mother, and a volunteer/leader in each youth organization in which her children Terri and Tom were involved.
Doris was full of life, and had boundless amounts of energy that she poured into everything she undertook. When combined with her friendly and engaging personality, infectious laugh, and huge caring heart, it is no wonder that Doris had so many friends that she genuinely cared about, and vice-versa. Doris was very social and enjoyed attending celebrations "dressed to the nines", and her wardrobe always included something that she would describe as giving her a little "Pizazz"! Without question, Doris was the "life of the party", and much to Alvin's chagrin, they were usually the last couple to arrive and always the last to leave every social occasion.
After her children were off to college, Doris turned her focus on starting and growing her own jewelry business. A keen eye for quality, an innate feel for style, and an obsession for perfection all contributed to her success in what became much more to her than just a business. Doris had a passion for her customers, and felt a real responsibility for guiding them in choosing the perfect jewelry for their special occasions. Doris often had knowledge of numerous engagements before anyone else, and took great pride in the fact that she was trusted to never leak the news.
In the "retirement" phase of life, Doris found purpose as an active volunteer and board member of: Friends of the Fox Theater, Liguri nel Mondo, and Druids. Beyond the activities that provided civic pride, she channeled the passion from her heart towards her family. She cherished being "Nonnie Doris" to her five grandchildren which were her true pride and joy – and often let them know that they were "Awesome".
Doris is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Alvin, her daughter Terri (married to Jim Stowe), son Tom (married to Maureen), and her brother Steve Giovannoni, and her grandchildren: Kyle Cortopassi, Joey Cortopassi, Emily Stowe, Allison Stowe, and Conner Cortopassi.
The family would like to thank Josefina Marcelo and Adela Mejia who provided Doris with much assistance and support in the home.
A viewing will be held at Casa Bonita Funeral Home in Stockton (2500 Cemetery Lane) on Monday, January 25th from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Please bring a face covering to wear.
Committal will be private. A celebration of Doris' life will be held at a later date when we are able to safely gather together.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate remembrances in her honor to: Holy Cross Catholic Church, P.O. Box 52 Linden, CA 95236; Liguri nel Mondo, P.O. Box 693132 Stockton, CA 95269-3132; or to a charity of your choice.

I met Doris through my daughter Krystyn whom worked for Doris as her driver and house keeper before the pandemic. We attended a dinner in Linden with Doris and Alvin and sat at a large table table with her family and friends . She was the life of the party and was beautiful and elegant. We enjoyed ourselves that evening and met some wonderful people that sat at our table. My daughter Krystyn spoke very highly of Doris and Doris called Krystyn her granddaughter . I know that she will be missed and that she was loved by everyone who knew her. Krystyn and Doris kept in close contact with one another and they had just spoke a few days prior to her passing. Her loving, caring heart will be missed by all that had the pleasure of being a part of her life. May you Rest In Peace Doris.

Doris was very special to me and my family. I have rented a home from her for many years and during that time I became close with her. I cleaned and decorated her home , helped her in her home office and with her computer (which was a frustration for her). She gave me advice in business, home life and with my children. She was a mom to me ❤ She was a spitfire and I loved her very much
