Ellen "Sis" Heinbockel Weston, 85, a member of two Tracy area pioneer families and a lifelong Tracy resident, died Thursday, March 30, 2006 at her home. Born in Tracy at the family home at Eighth and C streets, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Ellen Heinbockel. The Heinbockel family had come to the Tracy are from Germany in the 1860s. Mrs. Weston's father and his brother, John, operated the Heinbockel Inn at Tracy Boulevard and Finck Road, she was raised in a nearby house. Mrs. Weston attended Naglee School and in 1940 graduated from Tracy High School, where she was student body secretary. In 1941, she married William P. "Willie" Weston, whose grandparents, James and Mary Eagan, were Tracy's first residents in 1878. Mrs. Weston worked at the Tracy Press and Allen's Pharmacy and later was a homemaker. Known as a compassionate person interested in the well being of family members and friends, she and her husband often visited patients in hospitals and rest homes. Mrs. Weston was honored as Woman of the Year by Soroptimist International of Tracy for her service to others. Mrs. Weston is survived by her husband, William P. "Willie" Weston, a retired Southern Pacific engineer; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Rex Buthmann of Tracy; a grandson, Nicholaus R. Buthmann of Tracy; a brother and sister-in-law, Edmund and Dokie Heinbockel of Coarsegold; a brother-in-law, Tom Weston of Tracy; a sister-in-law, Kate DeLap of Tracy; a cousin, Donald Trautner of Clear Lake; a nephew, Ed Heinbockel of San Luis Obispo and a niece, Heidi Franklin of Clovis. At Mrs. Weston's request, no services will be held. The family prefers contributions in Mrs. Weston's name be sent to Sutter NVA and Hospice, 4600 S. Tracy Blvd., Tracy 95377.
