Jean Schrader Obituary

Jean Morgan Schrader

July 21, 1936 - Nov. 21, 2018

Jean Morgan Schrader of Stockton, California passed away peacefully on November 21, 2018 surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born on July 21, 1936 to David and Nellie Dickason Morgan in Emporia, Kansas. Jean met her high school sweetheart, Don, when she was 16 and he was 17 years old. A graduate of Emporia High School and Emporia State University, she was a registered Medical Technologist. They were married for 61 years. Jean and Don moved to Stockton in 1965 to open their first McDonald's franchise, which she was still involved with until her passing.

She was well known for her generosity, kindness and endless energy. Jean's hard work, perseverance and diligence served her well, as they continued to open new franchises in San Joaquin County. She was a strong leader with a good business sense and she touched all whom she met. Jean led committees responsible for the selection of furniture and décor for the original Sacramento Ronald McDonald House. She was also on the committee for the original Ronald McDonald House at Stanford. Jean was very active in the San Joaquin County community including: Hanot Foundation, ARC of San Joaquin, Omega Nu, Ladybugs, and the Adult Activity Center. She was a huge fan of the UOP Tigers basketball team, often traveling to their out of town games.

She was a loving wife, a caring mother and a doting grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. Her six grandchildren affectionately called her "Gogo", as she was always on the go, especially when she spent time with them in Aptos.

She will be missed and is survived by her husband Don, and two children: Nancy and Craig (Cathleen). Jean is also survived by her grandchildren Carli, Meghan, and Dylan Schrader and Corey (Jennifer), Brad, and Taylor Johnson. Jean was preceded in death by her daughter Susan, by her parents, and her brother Harold David Morgan.

Services will be private. A celebration of Jean's life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean's name can be sent to Hanot Foundation, P. O. Box 950, Lockeford, CA 95237 or Ronald McDonald House, 255 49th St., Sacramento, CA 95817.

Jean was an amazing and gracious woman. She was a mentor to me and I learned so much from her, when it came to caring for my own son with Down Syndrome. She was a Stockton treasure and pioneer in her quest to advocate for those with disabilities. You left this world brighter and I am so thankful to have known you. My sincerest condolences to Don, Nancy and Craig.
