John McClure Obituary

April 8, 1940 - May 3, 2017
John Edwin McClure was born April 8, 1940 in Lafayette, Indiana - Purdue, to a college professor father and an elementary school teacher mother. As a family, they enjoyed travel every summer. At an early age, John could boast he had traveled to every state in the Union. Upon graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, John continued his travels on the Queen Mary to Europe. He went as far South as Venice, Italy and as far North as Reykjavik, Iceland. Upon returning to the Bay Area, John acquired a lucrative job in sales. However, his entreprenerd spirit inspired him to open his first printing shop in Walnut Creek, CA. John went on to acquire a small chain of print shops in the East Bay and San Joaquin Valley known as Copy Quick Printing.
John is survived by his sons Steven and Kurt McClure, step daughter Debbie Mehrer (Jason), son in law David Mehrer (Caprice), step son David Thurman (Sara), niece Michelle Welch (Dan), grand-children David Mehrer Jr, Nicholas Mehrer, Grace Thurman, Zach West, and Matthew Welch, his sister Jane Neilson (Bill), nephew Derek Buckner and many close dear friends.John is predeceased by his father John A. McClure, mother Dorothy McClure, and sister Dorothy Buckner.
His soul is in Santa Barbara, his bones are in Stockton and his cadaver is at UC Davis Medical School. May he rest in peace. Please join family and friends for an open house celebration of John's life. Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 12:00 pm, 6135 Cumberland Place Stockton, CA 95219. In lieu of flowers please donate to UC Davis Cancer Center.
