Lawrence M. Ries, age 86, passed away Monday, September 11, 2006 at his home in Stockton. Mr. Ries was born November 18, 1919 in Iowa. Mr. Ries served in the Army during WWII, he worked for the Federal Government as a Shipping Supervisor for 27 years. Mr. Ries was a member of Trinity and St. Andrews Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Ries of Stockton; two daughters, Judy Rafert, Laura Israel and husband, Ken, all of Stockton. Six grandchildren, Peter Rafert and wife, Kerry, Greg Israel and wife, Kate, Kari Israel, Matthew Rafert, Susan Rafert and Jennifer Israel. Three great-grandchildren, Skylyn, Jillian and Scott and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Private Services will be held at the San Joaquin National Cemetery with a memorial service at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 4910 Claremont Ave. on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Dan Deuel and Pastor Jim Russow officiating. Wallace-Martin Funeral Home entrusted to the care of arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrews Lutheran Church.
