Dear Connie, Gary, Vicki and Jim,
Our deepest condolences with the loss of Pete. We, my parents Miny and Wiel and my sister Miriam and I had the pleasure of meeting Pete in the eighties, as you know, because he had lived with my grandparents during World War II in Kerkrade and wanted to see the Houben family again after his stay in Greece. He stayed with us for four days and we had a lot of good talks, also serious ones regarding the war, but nevertheless we had a great time meeting and getting to know him. We all stayed in touch over all those years. Not only Miriam & Roger visited the both of you regularly in Stockton, also Menno & I stayed at your home in Stockton as well.
Pete was a marvellous and wonderful man and will be sadly missed! Although we never experienced World War II we will never forget that Pete fought for our freedom!!
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you! We'll never forget Pete!

Uncle Pete was my angel through my twenty one years on this earth. He was there for me when my Papou died. Uncle Pete filled his shoes. I wouldn't have known what the love of a grandfather feels like without uncle Pete being in my life. I think about him all time and the great things he has done for my family and I, mostly showing us unconditional love. I Love You Uncle Pete. "Thumbs UP!!"

My condolences to the Pete Spanos family. Pete was a good man who always had a positive word and outlook. I'm sure I was a pain going in and out of Pete and Harry's liquor store as a pesty kid on Hunter & Lafayette Street. Later, when I had the opportunity to work with them as a peer in real estate; I had nothing but the highest respect and admiration as a person and business owner for Pete.
Sincerely, Frank Orello.
