Tillman Meadows Obituary

Tillman "Gregory" Meadows

Oct.13, 1937 - Nov. 13, 2017

Greg Meadows, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many passed away peacefully in Stockton, CA, his place of birth on November 13, 2017 after fighting the battle against Parkinson's disease for over 10 years. He was the only child of Eleanor McLeod Meadows and Tillman Joseph Meadows. He attended Victory School and Stockton High School and served in the US Navy for 2 years in the Far East. Greg came back to Stockton in 1958 and worked with his parents in their retail photographic store on Acacia Street, which first opened for business in 1945. His father promptly left Greg in charge and took off with Eleanor for a month long vacation. At a New Years family gathering Tillman informed Greg and his wife, Marlene, that he wanted to retire and would sell his business to them. Greg said, "I thought he was B.S. ing! But the day after New Years they didn't show up for work and they had bought a home in Santa Cruz without telling me."

Greg married Marlene Mazzera in 1964. He met her when she was 16 years old at a church dance; he was a persistent man and they had a wonderful, exciting, and fulfilling life together for 53 years of marriage.

Greg had many friends; most were local, but he met many around the country through his business. Greg and Marlene together built their business from one location with three employees to five locations with over fifty employees, sold it eventually, and also retired to live in the same Santa Cruz house as his parents.

Greg is survived by his wife, Marlene, his two daughters Gina Lynn Meadows of Modesto and Michelle Francesca Garibaldi (Marc) and his two grandsons Ross Andrew Garibaldi and Vincent Gregory Garibaldi of Santa Cruz, his sister-in-law Melvalyn Boscacci of Aptos.

Greg was an exceptional fisherman as was his father and traveled to many exotic locations to fish and returned with many trophies. He leaves this fishing legacy to his grandsons.

A celebration of life is planned for the near future in Stockton. Per his wishes, last rites were private. He had received many blessings and last rites numerous times in Santa Cruz and Stockton after being near death many times over the past four years.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shrine of St. Joseph, Guardian of the Redeemer, 544 West Cliff Dr., Santa Cruz, CA 95060, The Parkinson Association of Northern California, 1750 Prairie City Rd, #130-220, Folsom, CA 95630, or your favorite charity in his name.
