Bernard Baxter Obituary

Bernard Z. Baxter Jr., of Montgomery, a retired Vice President for Orange and Rockland Utilities, and a lifetime resident of the area died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at home. He was 73.

The son of Bernard Baxter Sr. and Blanche Marie Baxter, he was born October 23, 1932 in Plattekill, N.Y.

He was a US Navy veteran; he received his Associate's Degree in engineering from Orange County Community College, and his Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was a member of the Professional Society of Engineers and a member of ECIRCO.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years Joyce Davidson Baxter at home; his son, Bernard Z. Baxter III and his wife Felomina of Virginia Beach, Va.; his daughter Debrah J. Baxter-Hunt and her husband Carry of Pine Bush; his son, Kevin G. Baxter at home; his daughter, Keely M. Baxter-Marvin and her husband James J. of Circleville; his mother, Blanche M. Baxter of Montgomery; his sister, Denise J. Baxter-Rice and her husband Earl of Johnstown, Fla.; his grandchildren, Donald A. Hunt, Bernard Z. Baxter IV, Lourdesa M. Hunt, Heather M. Baxter, Kori-Anne Hunt, Trevor S. Hunt, April J. Baxter, Kaden J. Marvin, and Cassandra Marvin; and his great-grandchildren, Dylan Hunt, Hallie Oelman, Sierra Hunt and Alexzander Hunt. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be Monday April 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 18 at 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Fr Kenneth Loughman and the Rev. Jim Van Houten will officiate.

Burial will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Coldenham Fire Dept., Montgomery Fire Dept. or the Town of Montgomery Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Arrangements were made by Millspaugh Funeral Directors.
