Christopher Helt Obituary

Middletown, NY

Christopher Alan Helt of Middletown, NY, formerly of St. Petersburg, FL, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 19, 2008 at VA Hudson Valley HCS, Castle Point, NY. He was 61.

Born in Middletown, NY on October 23, 1946, he was the son of the late Christopher and Clara Mae Hinds Helt.

Chris served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He is a past member of the Napanoch Fire Company and was a self-employed handyman.

Surviviors include two daughters, Tracy Helt of Kingston, Christina Helt of Ellenville; his son, John Helt of Jacksonville, FL; four brothers: James and Gary of Middletown, David of Chester, Robert of Campbell Hall; five sisters: Irene Kurlander and Suzanne Geer of Middletown, Rose Wilson and Sharon Evans of Fort White, FL, Virginia Lepp of St. Petersburg, FL; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph Helt; his sister, Kathleen Brassfield and niece, Kelly-Ann Geer.

The family will be present to receive friends and family on Thursday, May 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Morse Funeral Home, Inc., 33 Railroad Ave., Middletown, NY, with a celebration of Chris's life at 8 p.m. Cremation will be held at the convenience of the family.

My sincere sympathy to all of Chris's family.Although he and my sister (Lee)were no longer married I always considered him a part of our family. I am glad I had the opportunity to visit with him while he was in Horton Hospital.
