An Ache in the Community

It's a sad , sad , day in the Village , the Town of Wawarsing , and distances further , as we have lost one of our native sons , Eddie "Brushie" Brush. The pain we are all feeling is crushing , some more than other's , but painful just the same.
Brushie was a wonderful man , good friend , and one hell of an aquaintance. He could make you feel like you knew him all your life , even though you just met him. He was very active in the community , whether it be at the Elks , raising money for children , or at the Ellenville joint fire district , it showed what a wonderful person he was , in and out , and how dedicated he was to his community.
Brushie was a part of the community , not just part , he was some of the woven fabric of our community. Hearing of his passing was like waking up in the morning and having part of our beautiful surroundings , GONE. Just wiped off the map. Leaving us all speechless for the most part , but also asking why ?
Brushie was a huge part of many people's lives . Especially to his friends . He had a lot of "Friends" , as he was the kind of guy , that , once you met him , you were friends with him. Brushie had that charm , that everyman personality.
He was a great guy , the kind of guy , that when he was in a room , you knew it. He was at times , the life of the party , the center of attraction, and the all around kind of guy , who could make you laugh , even though you weren't in the mood too.
Many members of the area , are surprised, and shocked , that someone like him could leave us all so soon. It's like a part of us is missing. A huge part of us , us as in the community as a whole , is missing , and will never come back.
His years of dedication to our area , friendships , and just being one hell of a guy , will never be forgotten.
Whether its folks from VAW talking about the old days , or at the Elks , or at a Firehouse , Brushie will always be remembered. Fondly.
It's a heart breaking turn of events , and it gets worse. Right now we are all dealing with Brushie going away. But the worst part is when we realize he's really gone. Like going to the Elks in the 3 months , or the local parades. How are we all going to deal with not seeing Brushie marching with his shades on , and a big old cheesey smile. That's the Eddie I want to remember. The glowing Brushie marching in the parades. My emotions are getting the best of me , so in closing I say , " May God bless you Eddie Brush."
Brushie , you will be missed by all . The many lives that you touched by just being yourself , cannot be counted. We love you Brushie , we miss you already , and WE ALWAYS WILL.....

Brushy:
You will truly be missed. Mike and I were just talking last weekend of some of the Crazy things you did while an active member of the fire company, calling a truck into service when in fact there was no real fire. You could make anyone laugh. Thanks for helping make the nights go easier when I worked at the restaurant. You knew what to say and were ALWAYS willing to lend a hand. You were a blessing to many. Someday we shall meet again and you will, of course, make us laugh.

Ed Brush,

You will be missed by so so many people. You were the person who could make anyone in the room laugh and enjoy the good times in life and most important of all, you were a true friend to all those people who came into contact with you. I can think back to when we played softball together and you taught me how to hit. Thank you so much for all of the memories. Please rest in peace. Love the Logan Family

Death, be not proud

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.
