Edward Denniston Obituary

Newburgh, NY

Edward A. Denniston, of Cornwall, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 29, 2009. A lifelong Newburgh resident, he was 60 years old.

Eddie was employed by the USMA at West Point as an electrician for 35 years and was still employed there at the time of his death.

He was the son of the late Edward A. and Ann Zudo Denniston. Eddie was born in Newburgh on September 17, 1948.

Survivors include his loving mother, Ann Denniston of Newburgh; the mother of his children, Bonnie Denniston McIntyre of Highland Falls; his son, Scott Denniston and his fiancé, Thomasina Bello of New Windsor; his daughter, Courtney Denniston and her fiancé, Marcus Ortiz of New Windsor; his sister, Patricia Denniston Phelan of New Windsor; two nephews, Brian S. Denniston of Newburgh and Brandon Phelan of Plattekill; his aunt, Caroline Walsh of Ocean City, NJ; and several cousins.

The family will receive condolences on Monday, May 4, from 4-8 p.m. at the Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc., 239 Quassaick Ave. (Rte 94), New Windsor, NY.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning, May 5, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Church, Benkard Ave., Newburgh. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, New Windsor.

Arrangements under the care of Brian S. Denniston of the Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc.; 845-562-4411.

Bonnie and family,
So sorry to hear about Eddie. Many times he would be out on the dock and always lent a hand off loading heavy stuff for me. He always had a smile. May your memories keep him alive in your heart. God Bless.

As I read over the entries in the guest book a resounding common thread rang true. Eddie was loved by all who knew him. I had the good fortune of knowing Eddie when we were both young at heart. NFA was never the same after Eddie & Jerry graduated through its hallowed halls. I will always remember his wonderful & unique laugh especially when he knew he pulled the wool over your eyes for some reason or another. I will always remember the good times at the Avalon roller skating rink with Eddie & his many friends. May God watch over you and bless you for eternity.

Patti,
I've known Eddie and you practically all of my life and it really saddens me to learn of the loss of your brother. He has ALWAYS been a friend to me over the years, just as you have been. When I worked at West Point, he would stop by my office and say hello, how's it going today Gail. No matter where I ran into Ed, he would never not say hello. Pattie, Eddie WILL be missed by us.

You have our Deepest Sympathy Pattie,
Your friends,
Gail and Tory Faurot

Although out of touch, I will never forget Eddie and his particular laugh that made all smile. I loved Eddie as did my father, and now, in peace, they are together again. My condolences to his family, with hopes that they remember he will always live on in our hearts. God Bless and Go Packers!

I had the privilege of working with Eddie at West Point. He was a good man. So from this Marine to my fellow Marine, I say Semper Fi and my God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Eddie's unique sense of humor will be greatly missed. Football Sunday's at The Shamrock Tavern (where Eddie watch his Green Bay Packers play) will not be the same this year. R.I.P Eddie, you were truly one of a kind....
