Eileen F. Darcy

Mrs. Eileen F. Darcy of Port Jervis, NY and formerly of Baldwin, NY, died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. She was 82.

She was born March 19, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late James and the late Ella Neary Foley. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for both JP Morgan in New York City and later for the 1st Presbyterian Church in Port Jervis.

She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, Port Jervis, NY where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a perpetual adorer. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters Of Americas, Court Madonna No. 114, Port Jervis. She was a Volunteer for Bon Secours Community Hospital. The Presbyterian Church Lunch Bunch, the Port Jervis Senior Citizens Group and AARP.

A family statement reads: "Nana was a courageous Woman and an inspiration to us all. She was full of practical advice and in her own special way kept us all safe from harm."

Survivors include daughters, Eileen Carmody and her husband, Walter of Port Jervis, NY and Michelle O'Connor and her husband, Blaise of New Fairfield, CT; sisters, Margaret Sheridan of East Smithfield, PA and Lorraine Gilley of Oceanside, NY; four grandchildren: Maureen Adamcik & her husband, Michael, Brendan Carmody, Casey and Aislinn O'Connor; one great grandson, Zachary Adamcik, also several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Irving "Mickey" Foley & James Foley, Jr.

Friends may call at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis on Monday, August 18 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with a Catholic Daughters Service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 19 with a 9 a.m. prayer at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's R.C. Church, 46 Ball St., Port Jervis, NY 12771 with her nephew, Father Charles Gilley concelebrating with Rev. George Hafemann.

Cremation will be at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA.

The family requests that In Honor of Eileen in lieu of flowers and due to family allergies, donations be made to Bon Secours Community Hospital Foundation, PO Box 820, Port Jervis, NY 12771.
