Dear Maggie and Girls,
I knew your husband and father many years ago when we both started our law enforcement careers in North Wildwood, New Jersey. Gary moved on to the New York State Police and I moved on to the federal government. We kept in contact for a while but as life woud have it we drifted apart. I regret this very much. Gary was a person of the highest integrity. His good looks and easy manner made him the all-american guy. While we should mourn our loss we should rejoice in the time we had Gary in our lives. Gary touched so many people and I am certain we all benifited from having Gary in our lives. May God bless all of you and may Gary rest in peace.

Hi John,
This is Ned....We hung out at Gov. Livingston, and smashed up a motorcycle together. I'm living in NYC now. When I saw the name of your brother, I connected the dots; and was saddened for you....I'm extremely sorry for you and Martha....I'm leaving my e-mail address if you want to contact me I'd love to hear from you; and if you don't I understand
I hope you're doing well...

Maggie and Family,
I grew up with Gary in BH. We played hockey together and enjoyed the same group of friends. Although I only saw Gary 6 to 10 times since high school, the comonality and familiarity between us was instant. On the night of our 30th reunion, Gary and I were the last in the hallway of the hotel sharing pictures and stories of our kids and wives. He was very proud of you and the girls and I was geniunely happy for him as well as myself. For whatever sorrows Gary felt, I know that you and the girls were the best thing in his life. As all of us who grew up with Gary will tell you, he was a friend, a competitor, and a good and moral man. We will all miss him. I am blessed to have known him.

I knew Gary as a young trooper at the Monroe State Police barracks. He was a good friend to me when I was going through a difficult time. My mother called me from NY with the news of his death and I wept. The world has lost an honorable, decent man. My deepest condolences to Gary's family and to all those who were blessed and touched by Gary's kindness and friendship.

It's difficult to imagine the pain your family is experiencing. Even though it's been almost 30 years since Gary worked at NWPD, his passing has hit all of us hard. We remember him as the "All American boy" with that ready smile and laugh that was infectious. It is truly telling of Gary's personality that after all these years, he made that lasting impression upon so many of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Please know that we will always remember Gary.

Dear Maggie, Christina, Lyndsay and Rachel,
We are all so very sorry for your loss, but we know what kind of man, father and husband he was. He was always there at the games rooting EVERYONE on not just his own. We will never forget his smiling face walking away from San G with his guitar in hand.
Please, I know at this point you are all overwhelmed, but don't forget to reach out to your softball family in the weeks to come when you need someone to comfort you.
All our love,
Peggy, Randy, Gretchen and Kristen

Marguerite (my dear friend),
Christina, Lindsey and sweet Rachel,
My heart is broken in sorrow for you. If only my pain could alleviate some of yours... I would be greatful...
You, as his most immediate family, truly know how deep and fine a human being he truly was.
He lived his his life here on earth protecting and upholding human values and integrity, because that was who he was. He did an outstanding job! Remember that and be proud of him! You should seek great solace in this and in the knowledge that all of us, whom Gary has touched, feel the same.
For what ever reason he has had to leave - you must seek comfort in the fact that he is in a far more better and capable place in which to watch over his beloved earthly family, who he adored.
We are all better for having known such a fine human being as Gary Berwick.
God speed Gary.
With much love and respect,
Your friend,
Barbara

Dear Maggie and Family:
Gary and I grew up together in Berkeley Heights from grade school through high school. He was a great friend and I admired him for all that he stood for. I had the pleasure of seeing him at the reunion and spending some quality time catching up on family and life since we last saw each other. I will always remember him for his smile, his wit, and his integrity. I am so sorry for your loss, god bless you and your family. Gary has touched so many lives with his kindness over the years, he will truly make heaven a better place i am sure. So sorry for your loss. My sincere sympathies.

What a tragic loss! My prayers and love go out to Maggie, Christina, Lyndsey and Rachel.
Gary has been my friend for over 38 years; we grew up together, played hard in our teens, watch each other develop for kids to loving husbands and dads. I can say that I have been blessed that I was able to continue my friendship with Gary and for a short 38 years!
I always look forward to calling “bird” and scheduling time to meet for dinner and drinks; always reflecting on our great years that we had as teenage friends. Our conversation always turned to what great loving families we have been blessed with!
They say in life that you can count your true and best friends on one hand, Gary and his family will ALWAYS be in my heart!
Good bye for now my loving friend!
God bless you and your family!

Dear Maggie, Christina,Lynds, and Rach,
I can't begin to express my sorrow for your loss... I'm sure we could never really know, but only hope to help you all in some small way. I associate your family with our 'softball family' and have so many fond memories of you all in Myrtle Beach, and around softball fields. I see Gary with his all consuming smile, cigar in hand, and legs sprawled out in front of him... proud of his girls, and wife. Happy and content. I know how devastating this has been for us, so I can only keep you in thought and prayer in hopes we will be able to lift even the smallest amount of your grief in knowing how much you are all loved, and how much he will be missed.
Please don't hesitate to call if there is anything we can do...
much love,
