George Hall Obituary

George Hall, a longtime resident of New Windsor, died suddenly at home on Friday, March 9, 2007, after a valiant struggle with congestive heart failure. He was 70 years old.

George worked for the Town of New Windsor Highway Department from 1968 until he retired in 2001, and was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh, N.Y.

The son of the late Raymond Hall and Anna (Jones) Hall, and brother of the late baby Emma Hall, he was born July 30, 1936 in Cornwall, N.Y.

A family statement reads: "George was of unpredictable character with a golden heart that he liked to keep hidden from strangers. He had an unwavering love for his daughter and granddaughters, his son-in-law, his family, his friends and his pets. He enjoyed off-track-betting, coffee, sweets and a good meal, music like that of Johnny Cash, and being in the fresh air on a warm day. He cherished his loves on earth, but longed for the day when he would reunite with his wife, Barbara M. Hall, and his daughter, Christina Lee Hall, who predeceased him in 1987 and 1986 consecutively. Thank you for your devotion and strength - father, grandfather and father-in-law."

George is survived at home by his daughter, Laura Michelle McCloud and her husband, Jamie McCloud; his beloved granddaughters, Shari M and Sheila B. McCloud. He is also survived by his brothers, Raymond (Julie) Hall of Washingtonville, Jack Hall of Carey, Ohio, Allen Hall of Montgomery, and Arthur (Pumpkin) Hall of Puerto Rico. George is further survived by his sisters: Minnie Romer of Cornwall, Grace Eiselhoffer of Montgomery Nursing Home, Mary Wagtowicz of Spring Hill, Fla., and Harriet Meldez of Puerto Rico, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday, March 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home, Inc., 318 N. Montgomery St., Newburgh, N.Y.

Burial will take place at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, N.Y.

Arrangements are under the care of Christian D. Garrison of the Doulin Newburgh Funeral Home, Inc.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
