Geraldine Peterkin Obituary

Geraldine Amelia Hull Peterkin, a longtime resident of Newburgh, died Monday February 7, 2005, at home in Tequesta, Fla. She was 92.

The daughter of Isabelle and Silas Todd Hull, she was born August 22, 1912 in Newton, N.J.

She was the widow of Roger O. Peterkin Sr.

Geraldine was a longtime member of the Garden Club and Ossoli Club of Newburgh. She was educated in Newton, New Jersey schools and studied nursing at St. Luke's Hospital in New York City and in St. Michael's Hospital in Newark. She returned to school in the 1970's to complete her certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse and then worked for a number of years at Mount Saint Mary's Infirmary.

Geraldine, known as Gerry to her friends and Gram to her family and most of their friends, traces her ancestry to the Reverend Joseph Hull of Massachusetts in 1635, one of the original pilgrims.

She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She leaves behind four grandchildren with the most profound memories of caring and love, and a group of great-grandchildren who had the fortune of truly knowing and spending time with their great-grandmother for their entire lives. She will live in all of their hearts forever.

Survivors include her son, Roger O. Peterkin Jr., and his wife, Geralyn, of Falmouth, Mass. and Tequesta, Fla., and her four grandchildren: Roger O. Peterkin III and his wife, Susan, of Wellesley, Mass., Leslie Peterkin Crill and her husband, Michael, of Monroe, N.Y., Mark Peterkin and his companion, Brenda Kendrick, of Centerville, Mass., and Kimberly Peterkin Brisky and her husband, Richard, of Hobe Sound, Fla.; her 10 great-grandchildren: Sara, Colin, Andrew, Roger, Chelsea, Allison, Kenneth, Trevor, Tyler, and Emily.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, February 11 and 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 12, at the Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be private in Gardnertown Cemetery next to her late husband and near to Douglas and Gertrude Peterkin, and nephew, Thomas Peterkin, who was killed in Vietnam.

Memorial contributions on Geraldine's behalf may be sent to: Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407, or to any Hospice facility.
