Grace Adams Obituary


CHESTER, Pa. - Grace Martin Adams, 82, of 2511 West 9th Street and formerly of Gretna, Va., died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004 at the Belvedere Nursing Home in Chester.

Born June 14, 1921, in Pittsylvania Co., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Martin and Roena Toler Martin.

She was married to Edward Adams, who predeceased her.

She is survived by six sisters, Willie Whitehead, Louise Ward, Roena Adams and Otelia Myers, all of Gretna, Carrie Whitehead of Danville and Lois Logan of Worcester, Mass. and Gretna; and eight foster children, Jocaline Delcollo, Madeline Godwin, Jay Godwin, Beth Godwin, Eleanor Godwin, Pat Scorzetti, Jason Delcollo and Ryan Tayao.

In addition to her husband she was predeceased by three sisters, Beatrice Cora Matrin, Almure Martin Davis and Ollie Martin Elias; and four brothers, James, Ordalice, Oscar Felix and George Russell Martin.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Isaac Monroe officiating. Interment will be in the Piney Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Willie Whitehead, 2164 Terry Road, Gretna.

Miller Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of arrangements.
