Gustav Oelkers Obituary
He was born February 13, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Gustav and the late Bernadine Steinbrink Oelkers.
He was the widower of Ruth Emily Olsen Oelkers; she died August 3, 2002.
Survivors include three daughters: Norma Notzold Westchester, PA, Emily Oelkers of Barryville, NY and Verna Jones of Hawley, PA; five grandchildren: Kirsten Hamrahi, Paul Notzold, Britte Notzold, Thomas Jones and Brian Jones; one great granddaughter, Sofia Hamrahi, also nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Route 97, Barryville, NY on Sunday, January 16, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2005 at 8:15 p.m. at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville, NY with Pastor Linda Bohs officiating.
Burial will be in the spring in Lutheran Cemetery, North Branch, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 63, Eldred, NY 12732 or Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
Funeral arrangements are by the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Route 97, Barryville, NY.

Gus , You will be surely missed , as your store is missed by the entire community. Gus with his Polka music , Bananas , his sales , gas , and his personality that was just Gus. GUS WAS TRULY ONE OF A KIND. EVEN WHEN GRUMPY HE BROUGHT A SMILE TO YOUR FACE. THE CHILDREN WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM AS THE MAN WHO GAVE BANANAS FOR HALLOWEEN. LET HIM BE AT PEACE WITH RUTH NOW. GOD BLESS HIM
