Ira Zolchonock, a resident of Swan Lake, NY, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. The son of the late Morris Solomon and Rose Zolchonock, Ira was born on March 5, 1960. He was born and raised in Liberty, NY.
Ira followed in his father's footsteps and entered the food industry as a kosher food distributor in Boston, MA. After many years in New England, he returned to the Catskill Mountains, where he would remain. Ira, a car enthusiast, began his career in sales in the automotive industry. He had many interests that included car racing, motorcycling, and snowmobiling. His greatest passion was for his son, Sky.
Ira is survived by his son, Marc Zolchonock; sister Helen and husband, Wallace Stone; nieces, Denise Stone, Audra Stone and nephew, Keith Stone. He had eight great nieces and nephews and several cousins. Ira is pre-deceased by his sister, Jan Goldstein.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Noon on Sunday, May 23 at the Swan Lake Synagogue Cemetery, Hysana Road, Liberty, NY.
Shiva will be observed until 7 p.m. on Sunday, following services, at 5 Teddy Bear Lane, Swan Lake, NY. On Monday, May 24, 2021, Shiva will be observed at 63 Garden Ct., Succasunna, NJ from Noon until 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions in Ira's name may be made to Catskill Animal Rescue (C.A.R.E) at 263 Old Monticello Road, Ferndale, NY 12734.

Very hard to believe still, that my little cousin is gone. I think about him all the time, and have one sided conversations . It´s my way of keeping his spirit alive. I truly believe that my loved ones hear me when I talk to them. It brings me peace and comfort .love you cuz.

I met Ira in the late 90s working in the car business and we quickly became good friends. Anyone who knew Ira knows that he did nothing at less than 100% intensity. I'll never forget going down the Hudson River in his old speedboat holding on for dear life or trying to keep up with him on a snowmobile. He definitely grabbed life by the horns. He was the most loyal friend who would always call to check in and see how you were doing and If you needed anything at all he was there for you. I'll miss you buddy.

Ira was a great guy & it will not be the same not seeing him every Friday! His hospitality was 2nd to none, Anytime we were in his area, we would meet up & he would take us around & introduce us to other car dealers to do business with. My heart aches for his family & many friends. He was 1 of a kind & will be greatly missed. May He Rest In Peace!

My Friend. There are no words to describe the pain in my heart. Never again will the phone ring daily, to catch up on the work day, but mostly just to BS about things going on in our lives. The Nascar pools, the lunches at McGurrins, 1-35-80, and all of the help you've given me over the years. We had a great thing going. It's still just a bad dream that your gone. Ira was the most down to earth, adrenaline seeking, kind 61 year old man I have ever met. He could make friends with anybody whether it was while he was snowmobiling, side by side riding or while on his motorcycle. He had a smile that I will forever remember. He became a friend and better yet a part of our family last year, and we will forever be grateful to have met him and have shared memories with him.

Ira was a good man and will be missed. We met in the car business many years ago. He was always a welcome sight at the auction and a friendly voice on the phone. My condolences to his family. May he Rest In Peace and may God bless and help his family to get through this tragedy.

Ira had many close friends and I was fortunate enough to be counted among them. He would do anything for a friend; the word "no" was not in his vocabulary. I will greatly miss seeing his handsome face and beautiful smile, stopping by when I was driving past, and he and Donna doing the same. Like many others, my heart is broken.

I have known Ira my entire life. He had a lifetime friendship with my dad. Ira spoke to him almost every week until my father passed away a few years ago. He was more like a family member than a friend. Here is a photo from last weekend, I can not believe we won't see him again.

Ira was one of the best guys I have ever met. We were friends for almost 20 years. We spoke almost daily on the phone, sometimes he would call just to check in. He was incredibly proud of his son and spoke often about how proud he was of him. Top notch human being and I will miss him more like a family member than a friend.
