DONALD F. BROWN, 81
July 10, 1926 - November 26, 2007
Isabel M. Brown of Woodcliff Lake, N.J. passed away peacefully at Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, N.J. on September 26, 2007 after a short illness. Her husband and soul mate, Donald F. Brown, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his family on Monday, November 26, 2007 at Ridgewood Care Center in Ridgewood, N.J.
Isabel was born on November 1, 1925 in Yonkers, N.Y., the daughter of the late James and Isabel Morrissey. Isabel graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers, N.Y. and worked for Alexander Smith in Yonkers, N.Y., until she became a homemaker for her family. After raising her family she worked for Merrill Lynch in White Plains, N.Y. as an Executive Assistant.
Donald was born on July 10, 1926 in N.Y.C, and raised in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., the son of the late John Muir and Gabrielle Brown. Donald, a graduate of Hastings-on-Hudson High School and the Rutgers School of Banking, worked for 43 years with the County Trust Company and Bank of New York, retiring as Vice President. He also served as chairman of the Board of Trustees for the New York School for the Deaf in White Plains, N.Y. Donald served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.
Isabel and Donald were happily married for over 55 years. They raised their family in Valley Cottage, N.Y. and later lived in Somers, N.Y. before moving to Sunrise Assisted Living in Woodcliff Lake, N.J.
Donald and Isabel devoted their lives to volunteering and helping others in need with various civic groups. They were both active members of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Nyack, N.Y., serving as Eucharistic Ministers. Donald acted for many years as the Finance Chairman for the Parish and Isabel volunteered as a CCD instructor.
They are survived by: son, Christopher Brown of Highland Mills; son, Glen Brown, his wife, Teresa, granddaughter, Jennifer Brown of Campbell Hall, grandson Glen Brown Jr. of Middletown, Conn.; and daughter, Meghan Kelly; grandsons, Carter & Corey Kelly of Croton-on-Hudson. Other surviving members of the family include brothers and sisters-in-law: John & Joanne Brown, William & Ann Brown, Robert Brown, James and Evelyn Morrissey, Carol Morrissey, and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 5, at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Nyack, N.Y., with their nephew, Father Senan Taylor and life-long friend, Monsignor Thomas Leonard officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New York School for the Deaf, 555 Knollwood Rd., White Plains, NY 10603, Attn: Arlene Rice.
