On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer's, Janet Eva Litts of Highland, NY entered into eternal rest. She was 87 years old.
Janet was predeceased by her loving husband, Herbert W. Litts Jr. She was the daughter of Fernando and Dorothea Herlitz. She is survived by her sisters, Vera Elliot of New Paltz, NY, Dian Turner and husband, Richard of North Carolina; son, Herbert W. Litts III of Highland, NY, daughter, Janet Perkins and husband, John of Highland, NY, daughter, Virginia Lane of Jacksonville, NC, son, John O. Litts and wife, Debra of Highland, NY; grandchildren: John William Perkins Jr., Jennifer Reeves and husband, Ryan, Erin Litts, Bridget Gokey and husband, Jason, Kayla Paine, Julia Litts, John H. Litts; great-granddaughter, Angelina Reeves; she was the beloved aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Known to her family and friends as "Jenny" or "Aunt Jenny", she was employed by Schatz Federal Bearing, Phoenix Cables, and IBM. Jenny was a member and past Master of the former Highland Grange, St. Augustine Parish, and the Dutchess County Dartball League.
Although she was employed full time, Jenny worked tirelessly on the farm alongside her husband and family. Whether tending to a sick animal, helping with the daily chores, or canning in the kitchen, she always had time to take care of her family as well as others. Jenny was a dedicated wife and mother, she enjoyed penny socials, and pancake breakfasts. She also loved square dancing, and country music. She will forever be remembered and respected by family and friends, as a kind and generous person who would never hesitate to help anyone.
A gathering for family and friends will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Main St. Highland, NY 12528. Acceptable face coverings are required upon entering the building, with limited capacity allowed at one time in the facility. Graveside service will take placeat 11 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Union Cemetery of Lloyd in Highland.
